Why baby pink and black is one of the most classic colour combinations to wear this Summer
The Met Gala 2026 had the theme, 'Costume Art' addressing “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection,” by pairing paintings, sculptures and other objects in the Costume Institute's collection.
While there were so many beautiful garments worn by attendees, one that really stood out to use was ASAP Rocky in his Chanel ensemble. Men's fashion has always had a stricter element but this outfit really worked on multiple levels. The smoking dressing gown in baby pink and black in particular was a showstopper. Not only was it elegantly cut but the colours reminded us how beautiful and elegant this combination can be.
One of our colour ways for the Hilda Mary Jane ballet flats is classic ballet pink. The exact shade ASAP Rocky is wearing in the above image. We have had comments that some feel it's far too feminine and hard to pull off. We respectfully disagree.
We suggest paring the ballet flats with black trousers like these from Caves Collect, or a silk skirt from Silk Laundry or even track pants from Pangaia for that insouciant elegance.
